Film History and Meaning : Moronic action moments in movies…

Moronic action moments in movies…

Star Wars.
When the tie fighters come up behind the X wings in the trench of the Death Star, get some other X wings to come up behind them or coming down on top, as Solo did, to take them out.

ESB
When fighting the At-Ats, the snowspeeder pilots keep themselves in front where they can get shot instead of trying to take them out from behind.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Instead of continuing to drive the truck, stop it where the soldiers can get out and shoot and kill Indy then continue on their way.

What else?

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

It's Hollyweird.

😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 😠 Let's go, Brandon!

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

The Terminator.

T-800's car crashes while chasing Kyle & Sarah down a tunnel, and what does this indestructible cyborg do when a few cop cars show up? Runs away like a pussy.

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

True.

And isn't that AFTER he crashed his car into a police station and wiped out a bunch?

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

Nah, he wipes out the cop station after it. Just as bad, though. Kyle & sarah get taken in to the station by the cops after that scene and he tracks them there.

I also don't understand why Kyle took Hobo pants - with no fucking underwear it looked like - when 2 mins later he was in a department store getting dapper new coats and shoes.. and he never took a fresh pair of trousers. He must've gave Sarah a nasty disease when they bumped ugly in the Tiki Motel.

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

Oh yeah.
That's right.

As for the Hobo Pants (New at Target! LOL) I remember others brought that up before when we still had IMDb.

Here is a thread on those mangy threads with comments on that:

Lmao!

Yeah I think I remember reading that thread. A lot of good topics died with the old imdb boards.

Was there ever a reason given as to why they closed the boards? Was it the female ghostbusters movie and all the bashing it took on the boards?

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

I dunno, man.
Your guess is as good as anyone's speculation.

Amazon owns it, which I always found hypocritical where they sell X rated movies and yet the words shit, fuck, and cunt were censored on it!

I guess Bezos just wanted the annual thousands in his bank account instead of supporting it?
That is, if it cost them any extra money to run it.

Things change.

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

What's interesting is that there's not too many places to discuss movies outside of the old boards. I thought there'd be tons of places to go after the old boards got wiped. Oh well. You're right. Things change.

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

Yeah, I am not too keen on that either.

It is such a sad irony that here where all of the movie comment pages of the IMDb boards were saved hardly anyone talks about movies anymore.
Older movie threads from years ago get bumped and no one else comments except for the bumper.

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

Isn't there an Imdbv2 or something with all the old users still there? Do you go on that?

There was a lot of fucktards on that old imdb. I don't miss them.

Re: Moronic action moments in movies…

Yeah, I was part of V2 until I got banned because the admin is pretty much a dick.
There was no warning. No msg of, "You are about to be banned." Nothing.
I was just gone and I dunno why.
Others were also getting banned for no clear reasons.

While I was there, again, it was more about everything else than movies.
Most of the posters were from the "Politics" and "Soapbox" boards.

There were other forums that I did take part in and I may go back to them soon since they are a lot less toxic than this place which as you can see have a lot of fucktards and trolls who have no interest in discussing anything.

Exactly. It wasn't a pleasant enviornment. The Film General board was more of an echo chamber as well, you'd get better movie discussions on the actual movie boards. Do you remember Aiwaz? Apparently he was a real director.

You have to block assholes immediately on forums otherwise it just gets out of hand.

Bruce Willis and Samuel L. falling a hundred feet onto a tanker from a cable tied to a bridge in Die Hard 3

Arnold and Bruce slam cars into telephone poles and get right up out of the seat!

"Bruce Willis and Samuel L. falling a hundred feet onto a tanker from a cable tied to a bridge in Die Hard 3"

That is a good one!
Just how in the hell did they survive that without even a bruise, scratch or broken bone?

For impossible things I would say all those times when someone is so close to an explosion and yet they survive it and don't even blow out their eardrums causing deafness.

Moments later that happens in DH3.
